A Durham University chemistry graduate, he began his career in oil and gas before founding Choose Packaging, where he led the development and commercialisation of an internationally recognised paper bottle. Under his leadership, the company partnered with global brands, scaled manufacturing capability, raised private and venture capital, and achieved his first successful exit.

Following that exit, James established Longcroft Capital to deploy family capital with disciplined allocation, structured risk management and governance oversight. His focus is on capital clarity, well-defined financial structure and long-term value creation within growth and venture-backed environments.
